Q. How long have you worked at Bates Security?
A. Almost four years! I remember everything about my interviews and my first day of work like it was yesterday, back on Walton Avenue.
Q. How did you get your job at Bates Security?
A. My best friend's husband is a sales consultant for Sonitrol. At the time, I was looking for a job in the marketing industry. He told me there was a job that just became available at Sonitrol for a Business Development Coordinator. He gave me Bryan Bates' info and I contacted him and set up an interview. Later I found out that Bryan and the sales coordinator (who also interviewed me) felt like I was overqualified for the position, but decided to take a chance on me. Thank goodness, right?! Fast forward two years - I was promoted to the first ever Marketing Coordinator with Bates Security and they hired a replacement to take over my Business Development duties.
Q. What are you job duties?
A. I am responsible for Bates Security's marketing and advertising campaigns and strict sales and lead analysis. I keep the website updated with content and blogs (such as this one!). I coordinate all the events and community service that our company participates in and I manage all of the social media for both Bates Security and Sonitrol. I also handle some public relations for the company.
Q. What is your favorite part about your job?
A. It's been said before, but the people you work with really make your job something to look forward to everyday. I am so fortunate to have such a great boss, co-workers and wonderful owners of the company that I feel truly care about their employees. I also love that there is always something new for me to be involved in. From community service activities, such as the Lexington Swims program we just participated in with the YMCA of Central Kentucky, to the constant upkeep with our television, print and radio ad campaign, I never feel that my job is repetitive. We have a small company, yes, but we are all very busy day to day. I am definitely proud of my work and proud to be a member of the Bates family.
