Q. How long have you worked at Bates Security?
A. I started with Sonitrol of Lexington 10 years ago. In May of 2011, when ADR Security Services rebranded to Bates Security, we were able to sell commercial security under the Bates name.
Q. How did you get your job at Bates Security?
A. My father is a locksmith and safe technician in Lexington and has been since I was very young. This exposed me to this type of profession. After serving in the United States Air Force over 20 years ago, I was working with a safe and vault company that needed security. During this process, I was introduced to Jeremy Bates at Sonitrol. We became a customer and worked closely together. Through the years and changing professions, I reconnected with Jeremy. He knew my past security experience would allow me to be an asset to his company and offered me an opportunity to become a Sonitrol Security Consultant. 10 years later, this has proven to be the best career move I could have made for my family and I.
Q. What are your job duties?
A. My role at Sonitrol and Bates Security is sales. As a Security Consultant for the business, I meet with new businesses to listen and discuss their security needs. We custom design each and every system for our clients to ensure that each vulnerable area is protected. I serve small retail and commercial locations all the way up to large industrial, medical and educational clients using our unique intrusion, access control, video and fire detection and notification systems. I also support my existing clients to make sure they are getting the excellent support that they expect from our team.
Q. What is your favorite part about your job?
A. To speak to many interesting individuals and see many things that most people don't get to see. I enjoy knowing that we provide a valuable service. I think what really sets us apart is our written commitment to service, which is unique in our industry. I also have a great relationship with local law enforcement. After apprehending criminals due to Sonitrol or Bates Security alarms, I attend Police roll calls and reward the responding officers with a certificate of appreciation and a branded duty bag. We are fortunate to have a great team of officers and superiors that keep Lexington a safe place for all of us.
